50s Strat vs 60s Strat vs standard guitar
Day before yesterday I dropped by our guitar shop with my iPad, they have a custom shop room with all these expensive guitars. So i picked up one strat and started playing this funky riff on it, pluggin it to my iPads Garage Band VOX AC 30 (the most neutral) modelling amp thru the guitar interface, so no microphones are involved! It sounded so good that I started trying other guitars there just to compare the sound. I have actually never been into relic guitars, but now I start liking the feel a lot and I think custom shop does make a change to the sound! The actually do make you play better than you actually can!
Here is the riff on 50s Teambuilt Custom Shop Duo Tone Strat:

Here is 60s Relic Strat (Olive Green)

Here is some very normal guitar (not custom shop) that I just picked, a Les Paul copy, bridge humbucker:

Notice how the 2 strats bring life into the riff, whilst the "normal" guitar sound very lifeless. Also notice how much more aggressive the strat has become in 60s in comparison to 50s, where it just sounds like a funky guitar riff. It almost added the natural drive to it. And it is without me touching anything! It is exactly the same setup and volume and gain, just guitars change.
